If 2020 has taught us anything, it is that it's the little moments which matter most in life. And now more than ever, these values have taken root in the wedding world. Many couples are ready to ditch the grand production of large-scale weddings and instead are opting to get married more intimately! So whether you're looking for a boho, eclectic, and outdoorsy spot out in nature, an urban and industrial warehouse scene, or a more modern, bespoke aesthetic for your private or small-scale nuptials, we've got you covered! Here's our collection of unique and non-traditional locations in eastern Pennsylvania that accommodate small, intimate weddings and elopements.
NO. 1 Promise Ridge
Located in the Pocono Mountains overlooking the Appalachian Trail ridge is a quaint, woodsy elopement and micro wedding venue. This mini oasis can host anywhere from 2-20 people for your elopement or micro wedding. Exchange your vows in front of the Living Wall while your closest family and friends watch from their seats on the Infinity Deck, afterwards have dinner under the awesome mid-century modern reception pavilion. Looking for a photographer that fits this venue’s unique, boho eclectic, earthy vibe? My travel to this location is included!
NO. 2 Pocono Palms
Nestled in the heart of the Poconos is it’s newest wedding venue; an old church flipped by two sisters into an eclectic-styled cathedral ceilinged dream. With an outdoor garden for ceremony and cocktail hour, plus an indoor reception hall with bold archways, herringbone tables and a show-stopping dance floor, this venue is perfect for an intimate to medium-sized wedding. Looking for a photographer that fits this venue’s uniquely bold, eclectic vibe? My travel to this location is included!
NO. 3 Pump House Weddings and B&B
Once a historic oil pumping station, Pump House features a fully-restored 1876 industrial barn surrounded by the beautiful Pennsylvania forests and a tranquil babbling creek near the outdoor ceremony spot. Being a bed and breakfast, this venue offers eight cozy rooms on the estate for your closest family and friends to stay with you for the weekend, accommodating intimate micro weddings and elopements. NO. 5 The White Cliffs of Conoy
Having shot an engagement session here, I know of it’s magic ability to make you feel like you are on the moon, in the middle of Death Valley NP or even in Milos, Greece...all while being in...Pennsylvania. It’s about a 35 minute walk from where I scouted to park each way and totally worth it for a destination-vibe vow exchange right in our backyard! Bring a picnic for sunset, trust me. Looking for an elopement photographer that can plan out your whole day of adventure? My travel is only $60 to this location!
NO. 6 Fleisher Art Memorial
This is one of my favorite living history, old world venues that I’ve shot at! The reception hall has a glorious dark and moody, old Italian Catholic Church vibe. There's a park next door with a beautiful yellow mural perfect for an outdoor ceremony, and cocktail hour is hosted in either the art museum or the art garden. Being in south Philadelphia, it’s on a charming city block and right around the corner from the famous Magic Gardens where I have photographed a first look in the past. This space can accommodate intimate to medium-sized weddings of up to 120 seated guests. Looking for a photographer that has shot here before and fits this venue’s historic, moody vibe? My travel to this location is included!
NO. 7 Bok
Sitting in the South end of Philadelphia is one of the most unique venues I have ever had the pleasure of photographing. Bok is a historical vocational school, closed by the city in 2013. Couples can host their intimate to medium-sized weddings in multiple spaces including the West Gym, Auditorium, Workshop, Rooftop, Workshop, and sometimes the 8th Floor Terraces.
